Imagine walking into a room full of complete strangers… and leaving feeling like you found family.
That’s exactly how I felt at my very first Peculiar Collective Conference, hosted by R.J. Paulk and the incredible Peculiar Creative Team in Fall 2023.
As an introvert with a little extroverted spark in me, I was honestly so nervous walking into the venue. But y’all, from the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I was met with smiling faces and genuine warmth.
Before I even made it fully inside, I met two other amazing ladies in line who also became a close photography friends. That weekend reminded me just how powerful it is to be in a room full of people who *get it*—people who dream big, create boldly, and truly want to see one another win.
The conference was packed with cutting-edge education, inspiring photo walks, networking opportunities, and real conversations about building sustainable creative businesses. But more than anything, it gave me connection.
No pretentious energy.
No gatekeeping.
No snobby attitudes.
Just creatives pouring into each other, sharing knowledge, and helping one another scale.
That was the moment I realized photography was no longer “just a hobby.”
This was my business.
My passion with purpose.
I loved the experience so much that I came back to volunteer in 2024, and getting that behind-the-scenes perspective made me appreciate the heart and excellence that goes into creating a conference of this scale.
Will I be there in 2026?
Absolutely.
Lord willing, I wouldn’t miss it.
